The coastal strip to the south of the island is called Sanur and is some thirty minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Its sandy beaches feature traditional fishing boats and the odd fisherman can be caught scouting about in the indigo-blue waters. Being one of the first resort areas developed in Bali, Sanur still maintains a traditional Bali feel and time-honoured local customs. The town of Sanur offers a much quieter side to the island. Well-known Sindhu Beach has a natural reef that provides calm waters, making it a safe environment for families with children.
